There is a true Proverb that says: "As a man thinks in his heart, so is he." In other words, what we really believe is how we act.
The theory of evolution accords human kind the status of animal, no different to, and sometimes of less status than, the basest of beasts -- the only difference is the supposed lateness in the evolutionary chain.
This is taught as fact in most schools (including many religious schools), and the fruit of such teaching is being exhibited in the behaviour of many young people.
If students are taught that they are no more than animals, then their subconscious will tell them that it is all right to behave in accord with what they believe; and so they do.
Some years ago it was reported that a defenceless old woman was brutally murdered. This is a case in point. Though direct relationship could not be proven, it is my contention that one who thought himself an animal would have the capacity to behave as a brute beast that tears its prey apart for survival.
The Bible accords men and women great dignity. Though fallen, and marred by sin, men and women have been created in the image of God. To focus on His image, is to focus on that which is good, wholesome, just, pure and perfect in the universe. If we were to teach our children that kind of origin, I'm sure most of them would think of themselves in a different light, think of others in a different way, and live different lives.
This is why "I believe in God ... Maker of heaven and earth ..."
