The gift of death
9 Oh, let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, But establish the just; For the righteous God tests the hearts and minds. (Psalm 7:9)
Man looks on the outside, but God looks on the heart; he tests the hearts and minds of all. The wickedness of the wicked shall come to an end. Death comes to all because of Adam's sin. Death is God's gift to the righteous; it is God's guarantee that there will be an end to wickedness. On the other hand, the just shall be established. If not in this generation, in some future generation; and at the least, in the life to come.
Our part is to live a just and righteous life. This includes laying godly foundations in the hearts and minds of our children. God calls us to faithfulness in His ways. He will weave our acts of faithfulness into the acts of faithfulness of others, and in His Providence, His Kingdom and His glory shall be manifest in time and on earth.
At the same time, God will call the wicked to account for their wickedness. Dictators will be overthrown, or they shall die of old age; either way, their rule shall have an end. Murderers will be caught and capitally punished, or they shall die eventually; either way their activities will have an end. Sinners will repent and the latter part of their lives shall be lived in righteousness, or they shall be caught in the judgements of God in the earth, or they shall die of old age. Any which way, the wickedness of the wicked shall come to an end.
"But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the Lord."
