Jesus and the nations
7 Who would not fear You, O King of the nations? For this is Your rightful due. For among all the wise men of the nations, And in all their kingdoms, There is none like You. (Jeremiah 10:7)
Jesus Christ is the King of the nations; He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Rightfully, Jesus is to be feared; He can raise up kings and He can put down kings. In a moment, Jesus can bring a nation to nothing, destroying all its securities and creating general panic and great fear in the midst of its people; through tsunamis, earthquakes, economic melt-downs, terrorism, war, floods, drought, and so on.
On the other hand, a nation whose God is the Lord can experience extended periods of wealth, prosperity and general, relative peace. There is none like the Lord Jesus Christ, not even among all the wise men of the nation; so-called wise men who publish their ideas and seek to influence the direction of the nation's development.
It is our task to disciple nations, teaching them all that Jesus has commanded, because it is in obedience to the commands of Jesus that a nation's prosperity and salvation can be found.
