Is this really modern Europe?
Now Peter sat outside in the courtyard. And a servant girl came to him, saying, “You also were with Jesus of Galilee.” But he denied it before them all, saying, “I do not know what you are saying.” And when he had gone out to the gateway, another girl saw him and said to those who were there, “This fellow also was with Jesus of Nazareth.” But again he denied with an oath, “I do not know the Man!” And a little later those who stood by came up and said to Peter, “Surely you also are one of them, for your speech betrays you.” Then he began to curse and swear, saying, “I do not know the Man!” Immediately a rooster crowed. And Peter remembered the word of Jesus who had said to him, “Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.” So he went out and wept bitterly. Matthew (26:69-75)
Last night I gave in to my wife and went to a movie that she said she really wanted to see. She had read the review, and it sounded really good. I do not recommend the movie. It was pornographic and depressing.
However, it did give an insight into why much of Christian Europe has been visited with judgements and is poised for yet greater judgements to come. Europe has betrayed the Lord, squandered its inheritance and denied its heritage of Christian scholarship.
Throughout his journey through Christian Europe, interacting with people from the nations of Greece, Italy, Spain, Germany and France, the muslim lead in the film is subjected to nudism, homosexual rape, seduction, gluttony, drunkenness, racism, commercial exploitation of illegal immigrant labour, pornography, and much more.
The conclusion to the film is that "magic" is the salvation and only hope of the world, but even the magician, who teaches the magic, is a conman in the end. The final message of the film is that you have to exercise your own magic and remake the world after your own imagination.
If this is the Europe that Europe has become, and if this is the gospel that the glorious Gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ has degenerated to, then no wonder the Islamic world is rising in protest, and successfully spreading its influence.
I have no doubt that there will come a day when the word of the Lord shall be fulfilled: "But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea." However, it took 470 years from the time of God's announcement of His curse upon Israel's degenerate condition in Malachi, to the final, irrevocable, destruction of the Temple and the City in AD 70. God will have to deal with the degenerate cesspool that now seems to be modern Europe, and give his Kingdom to another nation producing the fruit of it.
I feel so violated by the film; intellectually, emotionally and spiritually defiled. I certainly will not be listening to my wife's request to go to the movies in the very near future, if ever again.
Much of Europe's demise is the consequence of the Great Reformers' neglect of the Law of God as the measure of the Holy Spirit's work of sanctification, and their failure to apply the Law of God as the Law-base of their political structures. When we compromise with the truth, even in just a small way, the accumulated consequences, over time, result in a degeneracy of culture that often requires destruction and starting all over again.
Civilisations have come and gone in the past. They will come and go in the future, but one day:
The LORD said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand, till I make Your enemies Your footstool.” The LORD shall send the rod of Your strength out of Zion. Rule in the midst of Your enemies! Your people shall be volunteers in the day of Your power; in the beauties of holiness, from the womb of the morning, You have the dew of Your youth. The LORD has sworn and will not relent, “You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.” The Lord is at Your right hand; He shall execute kings in the day of His wrath. He shall judge among the nations, He shall fill the places with dead bodies, He shall execute the heads of many countries. He shall drink of the brook by the wayside; therefore He shall lift up the head. (Psalm 110)
Why do the nations rage, and the people plot a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying, “Let us break Their bonds in pieces and cast away Their cords from us.” He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; the Lord shall hold them in derision. Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, and distress them in His deep displeasure: “Yet I have set My King on My holy hill of Zion.” “I will declare the decree: The LORD has said to Me, ‘You are My Son, today I have begotten You. Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations for Your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for Your possession. You shall break them with a rod of iron; you shall dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel.’” Now therefore, be wise, O kings; be instructed, you judges of the earth. Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and you perish in the way, when His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him. (Psalm 2)
