"Now as He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it, saying, “If you had known, even you, especially in this your day, the things that make for your peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. For days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment around you, surround you and close you in on every side, and level you, and your children within you, to the ground; and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not know the time of your visitation.” (Luke 19:41-44)
It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the Living God. Several times, God identifies that judicial blindness is a real possibility for those who wilfully, stubbornly, and continuously live in sin without repentance. The end of the road for judicial blindness is destruction.
On a daily basis we need to ask the Lord, as David asked:
Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Try me, and know my anxieties;
And see if there is any wicked way in me,
And lead me in the way everlasting. (Psalm 139:23-24)
And when the Lord reveals to us those things that are impediments to our peace with God and with our fellow believers, then we need to renounce our sin, and ask the Lord to cleanse us and give us a new heart.
