It is not that hard to know the Lord
The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law. (Deuteronomy29:29)
When Christians drift from the plain teaching of the Scripture, they wander into dark alleys and hidden caves. The Faith becomes hard and elusive, other-worldly and removed from the realities of life.
This Scripture pulls us back to the simplicity of knowing the Lord. We come to know Him, by obeying His commandments. If a Christian is fully converted to the Lord, faith is manifested in childlike trust, "If God has said it, it must be true. If it is true, then I must do as God has said."
This is not a secret thing. This is not hidden from our eyes. This does not required weeks of fasting, prayer and godly counsel. This simply requires the knowledge of the commandments of the Living God, and a willingness to obey what they command:
You shall have no other gods besides (before) Me
You shall not make an idol, nor bow down nor serve them (neither mental nor physical)
You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain (calling yourself God's but living the life of a devil)
You shall remember the sabbath (working six days and resting one day each week)
You shall honour your father and your mother (and all other legally appointed authorities)
You shall not murder (physically and reputationally)
You shall not commit adultery (or any other persverse sexual act proscribed by God)
You shall not steal (even if you are a collective of politicians)
You shall not bear false witness
You shall not covet (including acquiring through debt)
These are the things that belong to us, and that make for righteousness peace and joy, when lived out through the inspiration of the indwelling Holy Spirit. Amen!
